A big part of the Sway brand is fostering the show girl (show boy or show person) vibe in all of us through our clothes, so of course we’ve been fangirling over pole icon Alethea Austin, a self-described show girl with a cult following (both inside and outside the pole community), since the beginning!
Alethea has performed with some of the world's best dancers and traveled extensively to 400+ gyms, studios and conventions worldwide teaching her signature workshops to thousands of students. She has also appeared in music videos for artists like "Mötley Crüe" and "Cage The Elephant," major motion pictures like "Rock of Ages” and as a pole body double in the popular new STARZ show “P-Valley.” In the last few years she has shifted her focus from touring to producing and directing some of the hottest dance revues in Nashville "Halloween Ball Y’all," "Live Dancing Girls," and Miss Pole Dance America. She founded the Chrome Bar, Nashville’s hottest pole dance studio in 2013 known for “killer lights, killer grooves and killer moves,” and just opened her second studio location, in the middle of a pandemic. That’s some balls, y’all.
Sway founder Agata and Alethea started chatting virtually a few months back and the lovefest was immediate.
“I was looking for some cute new pole clothes and honestly kinda stumbled across Sway,” said Alethea. “I had some questions about shipping—at first I was worried about things making it safely all the way from Poland with all the post office issues we’ve had lately—and reached out to Agata.”
Needless to say, Agata was excited about the connection: “I couldn’t believe it! Alethea Austin was emailing me! Ahhhh! I almost peed myself. At first I had no idea what to say, I was so tongue tied and then I realized that I had to switch into business mode and try to hide my inner fangirl.”
The two started chatting and a fast friendship was formed. Alethea loved our brand values combining sustainable fabrics and practices with fashion forward designs, especially our new Jasmine Joggers , and Agata couldn’t wait to outfit a small army of real, Nashville show girls!
